Like many of Patrick's students, I came to Techtorium with an amateur level of computer knowledge. During the course I learnt much about computer hardware and software, to A+ level, though chose not to sit any external exams. Patrick also taught us about computer networks, Internet - including building web sites - and the fine points of Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

While at Techtorium as a student, I saw how Patrick could take new students and transform them into capable Computer Engineers. I believe nearly all of them are now working successfully in the IT industry. Some graduates still keep in touch with him.

After I had finished studying at Techtorium I went looking for a job. Patrick had been contacted by the manager of the Company I now work at in Auckland. He was looking for available students to by employed as technicians. Patrick suggested I go for an interview, he also ran me through a practise interview which helped a lot as I had not been to many interviews. I am now currently employed as a technician. My job entails diagnosing and repairing HP and Acer laptops, HP and Acer desktops, WYSE terminals and the occasional Nokia modem.

Without Techtorium and Patrick I would not be in the position I am currently in, also I would not have the knowledge that I have. Patrick is a great tutor and the experience that I received from Techtorium has proved invaluable in the real world.

I enrolled in Techtorium with little knowledge of computing and a goal of developing specific skills related to the hardware and software of computers and peripherals. After only one year of study provided by Patrick Dowling, I had surpassed my goal to an extent which has put me above most of my colleagues in my current occupation. I now have an in-depth understanding in categories wider than first anticipated and have also obtained skills that allow me to analyse and understand new and developing technology.

While at Techtorium, I was able to not only gain knowledge of IT related material, but I was also able to gain experience working hands on with computers in true to life situations. This is all possible because of Patrick's incredible ability to teach in a manner that is truly helpful and in a way that allows you to develop your own skills to analyse and interpret new ideas.

I started out at a bit of a crossroads as to what to do in regard to my career, or where to go next at the time. But after a year of tuition with Patrick, I had gained all the skills and qualifications I needed to leave me feeling confident enough to step up to the plate and compete competently in the work force.

I feel confident in what I do, which wasn't the case before attending Patrick's course in which he taught us not only about computers, but the broader spectrum of office life and business skills. He did it in an effort to build real world applied knowledge, which I now put to use amalgamating my computer skills with my business savvy and sales skills to earn a healthy amount of money for my age.

Hi Patrick, I just thought I would write to let you know how I'm going since finishing the Techtorium course with you, I'm currently working as a Systems Engineer for an IT firm, I'm really enjoying the job and the different challenges I have every day. My day to day work varies from repairing software and hardware faults on desktops and laptops, to installing and maintaining networks and servers from a range of clients, including small to medium businesses and home users. I definitely wouldn't be in this job if it wasn't for you and the Techtorium course. It really has made a difference and has definitely benefited me and my career. I completed the Techtorium Diploma of PC Engineering taught by Patrick Dowling and would have to say that it was without doubt a great course.

I entered the course having been interested in computers but with only a basic understanding of how they worked and functioned. The different aspects of networking, hardware, internet and software applications that Patrick taught me has proved invaluable in helping me forge a career in the IT industry.

The content of his course was very up-to-date and informative and at the same time fresh and interesting. His background in the industry is second-to-none and he approaches his teaching with the intent of passing on his vast knowledge so that we may succeed like he has. He was always very open and honest and able to adapt to each student's abilities to get the best out of each of us. Each student forged a friendship with him over the year-long course such was his likeability. Many of us still catch up with him now.

His passion for IT and desire to see people succeed in the industry are limitless.
